Registration open for 4th IEEE International Conference on e-Science

The 4th International Conference on e-Science, hosted by Indiana University, will bring together leading international and interdisciplinary research communities, developers, and users of e-Science applications and enabling IT technologies. An early registration discount is available now for the conference taking place December 7-12 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Conference registration includes admission to all tutorials and workshops and is available at its Web site. Higher registration rates apply after November 1. Early registration is encouraged as attendance is limited. The conference is sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society Committee on Scalable Computing. E-Science refers to science that requires massive computational power provided by grids, yielding very large data sets. E-Science researchers represent a variety of fields including physics, chemistry, earth sciences, and bioinformatics. The conference serves as a forum to present the results of the latest research and product/tool developments and to highlight related activities from around the world. "The e-Science 2008 conference highlights diverse applications from biology through humanities," said conference General Chair Geoffrey C. Fox, director, Community Grids Lab, part of Pervasive Technology Labs at Indiana University. "The program will showcase technologies with grids and clouds, and parallel and distributed systems; it will include voices from research and education, industry and academia. Together, these often historically opposing- but recently aligning- forces are forming a combined culture of innovation that is reshaping how science and engineering is conducted and taught. The conference is perfect for anyone interested in the future of science, and in the technology that makes it possible." Keynote speakers include Tony Hey, corporate vice president of the External Research Division of Microsoft Research and Daniel A. Reed, Microsoft's Scalable and Multicore Computing Strategist. The conference will be held at the University Conference Place on the campus of Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, IUPUI is only a short drive from the Indianapolis International Airport and is convenient to numerous restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues. The e-Science 2008 conference is held in partnership with the 2008 Microsoft eScience Workshop. Microsoft Research is a sponsor of the event. Other sponsors include Pervasive Technology Labs at Indiana University, Indiana University School of Informatics, and the Louisiana State University Center for Computation and Technology.
