Átila Mellilo promoted to CEO of Scali

Scali, the leader in software solutions for high performance Linux clusters, announced today the promotion of Átila Mellilo to Chief Executive Officer of Scali Inc. effective November 1, 2007. Former CEO, Jack Kay will assume the role of Chairman of the Board, and Chief Software Architect Rolf Welde Skeie will assume the role of VP of Engineering. “Átila’s achievement with the engineering team, our partners, and customers, has provided him with tremendous insight on how to capitalize on Scali’s unique strengths in the High Performance Computing sector,” said Jack Kay, Chairman of Scali. “I look forward to supporting Átila and helping him continue the ongoing success of the organization.” “Our flagship product, Scali MPI Connect is well positioned to address the increasing complexity and performance demands of HPC applications,” said Átila Mellilo, CEO, “I am excited about the opportunity to expand Scali’s leadership, and delighted to have Jack stay on as Chairman to provide our executive team with his guidance and encouragement.” Átila Mellilo has been responsible for Scali’s engineering division, including research, development, and technical support. He brings more than 18 years of technology development expertise to Scali, having held senior positions with key enterprise software organizations. Prior to joining Scali, Átila was CTO of the banking software division of TietoEnator, Scandinavia’s second largest integrator and consulting company, where he helped position the company’s technology within many of Europe’s largest banks and financial institutions. Átila has been instrumental in the development of many successful start-up technology companies, having demonstrated a track record in bringing those technologies into maturity. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consulting manager and software developer for IBM, where he worked with database technologies in the banking and finance industries.
