CSC Wins $700 Million Army Rapid Response Contract

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., -- Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC) is one of eight teams that have been awarded the U.S. Army's Rapid Response Program Government-wide Acquisition Contract. The contract, sponsored by the Army Communications and Electronics Command (CECOM), will provide rapid support to agencies across the government. The estimated value of the agreement to CSC is approximately $700 million over eight years. Contract ceiling value for all eight teams is estimated at $3 billion. CECOM's mission is to develop, acquire, field and sustain information technologies and integrated systems for America's soldiers. The contract is available for use by all government agencies, making it possible for them to rapidly acquire a wide range of services. The CSC team will provide a broad range of services worldwide, including communications, information technology services, aircraft refurbishment and airstrip construction. "CSC has developed a legacy of support with CECOM covering a broad range of services and initiatives," said Terry Glasgow, vice president and general manager of CSC's Army Programs. "This program continues that legacy. We look forward to a very successful program that produces significant value for the soldier." The contract merges the Rapid Response to Critical System Requirements contract, which was awarded in 1998 and resulted in more than $1 billion in task orders, and the Command, Control and Communications Technology Engineering and Integration (C3TE&I) contract. CSC was the prime contractor for C3TE&I, awarded in 1996, with an approximate value of $371 million.
