Cray Inc. and the Cray User Group (CUG) invite current and interested Cray system users to participate in CUG 2004 to be held May 17-21 in Knoxville, Tennessee. CUG 2004 is a unique opportunity to exchange problem-solving information and enjoy professional interactions with fellow high-performance computing system users. This year’s event will be located in downtown Knoxville and hosted by the Center for Computational Sciences (CCS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). The CUG Program Committee has arranged keynote speeches from Thomas Zacharia, Associate Laboratory Director for Computing and Computational Sciences at Oak Ridge National Laboratories and Thomas Sterling, Center of Advanced Computing Research, California Institute of Technology in addition to a diverse and impressive array of presentations in General and Parallel Technical Sessions, Tutorials, and Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings. This year’s program also includes technical previews of Cray systems scheduled for introduction later this year and beyond, including the ongoing Cray X1™ series, the upcoming MPP product based on the Red Storm project underway with Sandia National Laboratories and the Cray XD1™ high performance computing system (formerly called the OctigaBay 12K system). "We are looking forward to this year’s meeting and expect lively discussions between users about scientific progress in the past year using the Cray X1 system," said CUG chairperson Barbara Horner-Miller, associate director of the Arctic Region Supercomputing Center.
