Nation's Foremost Chief Information Officers, Chief Security Officers To Convene

IDG's CXO Media announces the advent of its 2004 CIO Perspectives and CSO Perspectives conferences. The two conferences will be co-located at the La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, April 18 - 20th. Sharing symbiotic themes of growth and risk aversion, the conferences will convene the nation's top information technology (IT) and security executives in an effort to strengthen the nation's infrastructures by balancing business and risk management practices. "This is a unique gathering featuring two synergistic audiences, conferences and agendas," explained Jennifer Richards, SVP of Executive Programs for CXO Media. "Everyone would like to bring these two audiences together and CXO Media has done just that." To meet the demands of the assembled powerhouse of CIOs and CSOs attending the 2004 CIO and CSO Perspectives conferences, conference organizers lined up high-profile speakers to spark meaningful debate and offer fresh solutions to a wide array of technology and security issues. These speakers, experts in their respective fields, will interact with participants in a variety of sessions designed specifically for each conference audience, as well as select sessions and keynotes designed to bring CIOs and CSOs together. Key 2004 CIO and CSO Perspectives Conferences Speakers Include: * Dana Deasy, SVP & CIO, and Eric Pillmore, SVP, Corporate Governance at Tyco International Ltd., who will detail their efforts to develop and drive the company's overall global information technology strategy as well as implement technology-based initiatives to improve Tyco's competitive position globally. The new management team has a Herculean task: rebuilding the reputation of the company with shareholders, employees, suppliers and customers. Deasy and Pillmore share what led them to join the new management team, the lessons they've learned in understanding the extent of Tyco's problems and what actions they've taken to address the problems. * Colonel Thaddeus Dmuchowski, Director, Information Assurance, U.S. Army and former Program Director, Initiative for State Infrastructure Protection will be participating in the State of Public/Private Partnerships panel, to discuss increased cooperation and communication on security issues between private corporations and public organizations such as law enforcement, government and military agencies. * Howard Schmidt, CISO, e-Bay, and former Special Adviser for Cyberspace Security for The White House, will be presenting the closing keynote speech, summarizing key thoughts and highlights of this unique convening. (As additional speakers are confirmed, future announcements will follow.) The theme for the 2004 CIO Perspectives conference, "Building the 21st Century Organization," focuses on analyzing and overcoming the stumbling blocks CIOs face in winning the IT-value argument with top management to create high-performance, technology-enabled, global, seamless and secure organizations. The CSO Perspectives conference, themed "How to Take the Sting out of Risk," will examine how to balance business needs with combating potential security risks. Conference participants will examine the roadblocks that internal and external politics, policies and technologies are creating, and learn what actions can be taken as leaders -- individually and collectively -- to overcome barriers to progress.
