MSC.Software Acquires Assets of SOFY Technologies Corporation
MSC.Software today announced the acquisition of the assets of SOFY Technologies Corporation. The acquisition of SOFY's assets includes all intellectual property and personnel related to the development and implementation of the SOFY, RADE, VRADE and SPRINT product lines. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. "SOFY's process automation technology and market knowledge are a perfect complement to MSC.Software's product portfolio, especially as it relates to our process automation and optimization software and services," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "Our customers rely on us to deliver integrated VPD environments that capture and re-use knowledge, decrease risk, and improve product quality and performance and the addition of the SOFY products and expertise further strengthens our ability to satisfy these demands." "Manufacturing companies are starting to take advantage of the growing capabilities in process optimization and design optimization (PIDO), recognizing significant savings in product development costs and speeding time to market," said Monica Schnitger, Senior VP, Market Analysis, Daratech Inc. "In fact, PIDO is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the CAE market. The tighter integration of SOFY technology with the MSC.Software VPD product line will result in even better tools to create and execute analytical processes in an interactive, user-friendly environment." SOFY's process automation tools, CAE modeling tools and professional services expertise meet the unique needs of automotive body structure modeling for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), durability, crash, and safety. These tools substantially leverage MSC.Software's strong computational simulation software such as MSC.Nastran, MSC.Marc, MSC.ADAMS, and MSC.Dytran/LS-DYNA. Additionally, SOFY's process automation tools and implementation expertise are a natural fit with MSC's Simulation Data Management (SDM) framework and the capabilities of the MSC.Software Professional Services Team.
