Microway Announces CW Cluster Series Based on Platform Clusterware

PLYMOUTH, MA -- Microway, a leading provider of custom Linux clusters, announced that it has selected Platform Clusterware(TM) as the enabling application for Microway's newly announced CW cluster series. The Microway CW Series(TM) includes preconfigured, AMD, Intel and Alpha based clusters, with fully integrated workload management and system monitoring and administration capabilities. "We are excited about Platform Clusterware as an integral part of our CW Series Clusters," commented Stephen Fried, CTO/President and cofounder of Microway. "Earlier this year, we introduced Microway Cluster Management Software -- MCMS(TM), a loosely coupled cluster management solution for price sensitive customers. Platform Clusterware in our CW Series, provides a new level of management software for customers needing a high end solution at an attractive price." "With Platform Clusterware, enterprises can treat the 'cluster as server', maximizing on the cost-effective, high performance potential of clusters," said Paul Hill, vice president, marketing and business development, Platform. "Together, Clusterware and the Microway CW Series will help enterprises roll out low-cost Intel-based clusters faster, reduce operational costs, and improve computing productivity through effective cluster management. Microway has developed a number of management tools in the past year including MCMS and NodeWatch(TM), our proprietary hardware/software environmental monitoring product. The CW Series plus NodeWatch deliver a powerful cluster management solution, unique to the industry. Microway also selected Platform Clusterware because it provides a logical migration path to fully integrated management through Platform LSF products as well as allowing clusters to be "grid enabled". This capability is critical to Microway customers in the life sciences and collaborative research markets. Platform Clusterware is the industry's first and only cluster management solution that combines workload management, system monitoring, administration tools and server provisioning (installation and configuration) into a single, integrated package. Platform Clusterware 5 supports Sun Solaris, HP-UX and other UNIX platforms, and a variety of Linux distributions including Red Hat, Debian and SuSE Linux on Intel 32-bit or 64-bit Intel Itanium chips and HP's Alpha chips.
