MSC.Software Announces MSC.visualNastran 4D 2002
CHICAGO, IL -- MSC.Software Corp. (NYSE: MNS), a leading global provider of simulation software, services and systems, today announced the availability MSC.visualNastran 4D 2002. MSC.visualNastran 4D is a Windows(R)- based tool that sets 3D assemblies into motion, animates the resulting stresses and lets mechanical engineers measure the performance of moving components. Engineering organizations can reduce design time and costs by verifying designs with physics-based motion, running preliminary stress analyses and testing control systems all in one complete testing environment. "MSC.Software's core product strategy is to continually expand the functionality of our products and be responsive to our customer's needs," said Frank Perna, chairman and chief executive officer of MSC.Software. "The latest version of MSC.visualNastran 4D is an example of our commitment to innovation and to supporting our customers as they search for new ways to deliver quality products faster and for less cost."
MSC.visualNastran 4D 2002 supports virtually every CAD system through associative integration with Autodesk Inventor(TM) & Mechanical Desktop(R), Pro/ENGINEER(TM), SolidWorks(R) and Solid Edge(TM) and through industry standard file formats, such as ACIS, STEP, STL, and Parasolid and CATIA model files. The 2002 version also provides "CAD Environment Emulation" which lets users customize the MSC.visualNastran 4D interface to work just like their CAD system. The icons, the way the mouse moves, rotates and zooms and even the mouse clicks work identical to their favorite CAD system, giving the user the flexibility of having a dedicated engineering environment to perform engineering studies, while maintaining the comfort of their familiar CAD system. This flattens the learning curve, making engineers productive with simulation in the first few days. "MSC.visualNastran 4D is very easy to use. In fact, it's orders of magnitude easier to use than many of the high-end packages I've used in the past," said Ken Henderson of Xerox Corporation. "MSC.visualNastran 4D 2002 provides break-through productivity enhancements, enabling a design engineer to pack 24 hours of work into eight hours." In addition to analyzing rigid body dynamics, motion-related stress analysis, structural responses such as vibrations, deflection and buckling and providing photo-realistic rendering and animation, MSC.visualNastran 4D 2002 now simulates a broader range of motion applications and is easier to use than ever before. Some of the new features include: -- Getting Started CD -- one-day productivity, multimedia tour -- Gear, Belt, and Joint Friction Constraints -- Smooth Contact -- for cams and latch applications -- Redundant Constraint Relief -- Steady State Heat Transfer -- FlexLM & Campus Licensing -- Hundreds of Ease of Use enhancements MSC.visualNastran 4D 2002 is available directly from the MSC.Software sales team, through its worldwide network of resellers, for use via the Web at the Simulation Center, http://www.simulationcenter.com, and available for monthly licensing via MSC.Software's OnDemand licensing service at http://www.engineering-e.com.
