MTI Delivers SAN Hardware Investment Protection

ANAHEIM, CA -- MTI Technology Corp. (NASDAQ: MTIC), a leading provider of storage and business solutions, has solved the competing customer requirements of providing hardware investment protection while seamlessly supporting rapidly-changing IT requirements by introducing Four Way Scalability for its Vivant network storage solutions. MTI’s Vivant network storage solutions enable IT administrators to quickly and easily scale their storage infrastructure to support the four most common growth challenges in enterprise data centers: Adding more host servers, adding more applications, adding more storage capacity and adding more storage processing power. With Four Way Scalability, MTI Vivant systems seamlessly adapt to changes in the surrounding IT infrastructure, regardless of when and how they occur. “In today's IT environments, the pace of change continues to increase while the available resources continue to fall short of demand. That places a premium on having an IT infrastructure that seamlessly adapts to change,” said Russ Ritchie, Director of Product Marketing at MTI. “More problematic is that many changes in IT equipment often occur in a random manner. New applications arrive that were not planned for a year ago, or new servers are suddenly added to address a pressing business issue. The ability of your storage architecture to adapt gracefully to these unpredictable circumstances can significantly ease the burden of enterprise storage management.” The Vivant architecture allows new servers to be added to existing configurations in a non-disruptive manner. In a SAN configuration, new servers are simply plugged into the existing Fibre Channel switch fabric, which automatically recognizes the new host. If no unused switch ports are available for the server connection, new switches can be seamlessly added to the existing fabric in any combination, providing virtually unlimited port counts to handle both current and future growth. In a NAS configuration, new servers can be added to the Ethernet networks that are attached to the Vivant, and immediately begin accessing data within the storage array. Adding new applications to a Vivant is also a snap. By utilizing the Vivant's management software toolset, new LUNs and security settings can be easily created, allowing any amount of available storage to be easily allocated for secure use by the new application. Another key feature of the Vivant architecture is the ability to add new storage capacity on demand. Using hot-swappable drive designs, capacity upgrades can occur in just minutes, allowing administrators to quickly and easily add up to terabytes of capacity to meet specific storage requirements. MTI Vivants also include the ability to scale their storage processing power in relation to the applications, servers and disk capacity in use. By enabling additional storage processing power to be added to existing Vivant systems, including the ability to integrate additional Vivant systems into existing storage networks, the ability to handle new workloads is assured. In addition, this approach also provides the ability to vary the ratio of storage capacity -to-processing power based on application requirements. Four Way Scalability is a standard feature that is included with all MTI Vivant storage solutions. For more information visit www.mti.com
