ADVA Optical Networking to be deployed in THUS' network
ADVA Optical Networking today announced that THUS, one of the U.K.’s leading business service providers, has selected the ADVA FSP 150 to assist with the delivery of intelligent Ethernet services to enterprise customers throughout the U.K. Spanning more than 10,000km, THUS’ national next-generation network connects 190 points of presence, including major business centers such as London, Manchester and Glasgow. Built on a foundation of IP and MPLS over fiber, THUS’ network will use the ADVA FSP 150 in its delivery of a range of intelligent Ethernet services with unparalleled last-mile flexibility, control and management. Mark Bennett, head of portfolio at THUS stated, “As we continue to roll out converged network solutions, the ADVA FSP 150 helps us to offer fully managed last-mile Ethernet access connections that can scale to meet demand, while delivering a Quality of Service (QoS) that our customers expect.” The ADVA FSP 150, featuring Etherjack technology, provides THUS with intelligent demarcation, stringent monitoring of data from the network core to the customer premise, verification of strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and remote Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM). Designed to carry business-critical data applications, the ADVA FSP 150 simplifies the management and transport of bandwidth-intensive broadband services throughout the network, supporting data speeds from 10Mbit/s up to 1Gbit/s. “THUS offers its customers one of the most innovative next-generation networks available in the U.K.,” commented Fred Ellefson, vice president of global marketing at ADVA Optical Networking. “THUS is deploying products from the ADVA FSP 150 family, to assist in the delivery of the latest business voice, video and data applications across its highly intelligent, scalable and flexible networking platform.” The ADVA FSP 150 is compliant with all standard Institute of Electronics and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) specifications, including 802.3ah (Ethernet in the First Mile, EFM) and 802.1ag (Connectivity Fault Management, CFM) specifications. It features compliance with the new ITU-T Y.1731 standard for advanced Ethernet OAM, and has also been rigorously designed for Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) compliance.
