Aricent Joins Fulcrum Microsystems’ ControlPoint Developer Alliance

Fulcrum Customers Gain Access to Leading Software Development and Services Organization to Speed Development of Networking Product

Fulcrum Microsystems announced Aricent as the newest member of the ControlPoint Developer Alliance (CDA) – a community of FocalPoint users and technology providers collaborating to make ControlPoint the best network protocol software available.

With the addition of Aricent to the Alliance, Fulcrum customers can get to market quickly with complete 10 Gigabit Ethernet data center networking systems by leveraging the expertise, proven software solutions, and global presence that Aricent offers. The Alliance continues to thrive since its introduction in 2008 with many members now shipping robust and feature-rich products based on Fulcrum’s FocalPoint switch silicon and ControlPoint networking software.

The Aricent team already has extensive experience with Fulcrum’s FocalPoint silicon, making them an important new addition to the Alliance. Aricent brings to FocalPoint customers the experience of developing, integrating, customizing and sustaining software developed either by Aricent, by the customer, or by other third parties.

This is complemented by the availability of Aricent’s range of products from individual routing / switching control plane components to a complete switching / routing pre-integrated software package.  Aricent provides the ability to launch platforms and grow business beyond a company’s internal resource constraints; Fulcrum customers, ranging from young start-ups to established market leaders, have accelerated their time to market utilizing Aricent’s expertise.

“The Fulcrum FocalPoint silicon makes an excellent complement to our software expertise and we are excited to be a member of The ControlPoint Developers Alliance,” said C P Murali, Sr. Vice President at Aricent.  “The high performance of Fulcrum’s FocalPoint lossless Ethernet fabrics combined with the flexibility and experience of our team allows networking equipment providers to deliver differentiated solutions that meet the needs of the most demanding data center, cloud networking, and broadband access applications.”

“Aricent is an immensely valuable addition and we are delighted the CDA community will have the ability to take advantage of Aricent’s expertise and resources,” said Mike Zeile, President and COO of Fulcrum Microsystems.  “Other Alliance members will benefit from the large-scale, full-service software and support organization they bring as well as their ability to take on any and all software and support tasks including development, porting, integration, test, and direct customer support.”

The Fulcrum ControlPoint Developer Alliance offers a broad and flexible licensing model, members of the Alliance enjoy full access to source code and are able to use ControlPoint software on their hardware platforms, and have rights to develop their own features, or can leverage the work of other Alliance members to gain access to new capabilities.
