The deputy commander of U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) announced the command will play a major role when the Department of Defense brings its annual meeting on modeling and simulation (M&S) to the local Hampton Roads area next year. Army Lt. Gen. John R. "Bob" Wood announced the 2007 DoD Modeling and Simulation Conference will be held May 7-11, 2007 at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton. Previously, the conference had been held in locations like Baltimore and Orlando, Fla. "This brings all the DOD modeling and simulation communities to our location," said Wood. "Importantly for us, we have them here for the mission that we face and the requirements we have and the opportunity it presents. I’m proud to make this announcement for them." Wood made the announcement today during a "State of the Military" half-day program organized by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. The focus of today's meeting was on M&S in Hampton Roads with a special emphasis on USJFCOM's efforts conducted here. In addition to USJFCOM, the services and numerous other DoD agencies, the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office-sponsored conference will have support from the National Training and Simulation Association, Hampton Roads Technology Council, Hampton Roads Partnership, and the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance.
