Open Source Development Lab Announces 2001 Enterprise Achievement Award Contest

Portland, OR -- The Open Source Development Lab (OSDL), an independent, vendor-neutral, non-profit organization dedicated to enabling Linux for enterprise and carrier-class functionality, today announced a call for entries for their 2001 OSDL Enterprise Achievement Award. A cash prize of $25,000 will be granted to a developer or group that has made a significant contribution to Linux for the enterprise. Nominations are open to an individual or group that has made a noteworthy accomplishment in the last two years that relates to enterprise type work. The award will be presented at LinuxWorld Expo in San Francisco, August 27-30, 2001. "In creating the award we wanted to not only recognize the technological milestones being reached in the advancement of Linux, but also encourage the open source community to continue existing efforts toward scaling Linux to the enterprise," said Tim Witham, OSDL lab director. Entries will be accepted via the OSDL Web site (http://www.osdlab.org) from now through August 10, 2001. The award is based on a group or individual's vision, creativity and the importance of their achievement and contribution to the acceptance of Linux in the enterprise. Submissions will be judged by a panel of OSDL Board members and open source community leaders. Entries must include specific information about the contribution, justification, references and a commitment to provide additional information and materials upon request to facilitate judging.
