Applix Announces New Vice President of Research & Development

Applix, a global provider of Business Performance Management (BPM) and Business Intelligence (BI) software solutions, today announced that Chanchal Samanta, a technology veteran with more than 25 years of development experience, will become vice president of research & development. Mr. Samanta will replace Craig Cervo, who is stepping down from his role as vice president of product development effective immediately but will remain with the company in a transitional role until November 30, 2005. Mr. Samanta, who was most recently vice president of product development at Unica Corporation, is expected to join the company on January 5, 2006. In the interim period, David C. Mahoney, Applix president and chief executive officer, will lead the company's development team, with Mr. Samanta providing some part-time consulting services. Said Mr. Mahoney, "We are thrilled to attract a skilled and talented development leader like Chanchal to Applix at this point in our growth plan. His expertise and success over the past 25 years will be invaluable as we continue to push ahead with plans to expand the functionality and other facets of our core platform, TM1."
