Applix Delivers High-Performing Web Solution for BI

Applix, a global provider of single platform solutions for Business Performance Management (BPM) and Business Intelligence (BI), introduced today TM1 9.0, which includes the latest version of TM1 Web, based on Microsoft's .NET architecture. The new features in TM1 9.0 deliver enterprise-class performance for simultaneous use by hundreds financial analysts, line-of-business managers and senior executives for Web-based business performance management activities and reporting. TM1 and its business performance management modules already provide more than 2,000 companies worldwide with analytics, reporting, planning and budgeting capabilities. "Business performance management tools are no longer the exclusive domain of the finance department," said David Menninger, vice president, worldwide product management and marketing, Applix, Inc. "In the past 18 months, there has been a marked increase in demand for business performance management applications by operations, sales and marketing, and senior management." Menninger added, "This trend means that business performance management tools must provide near-instant results, with minimal re-calculation time, via the Web. As a result, Applix has re-architected TM1 Web in Microsoft .NET to deliver lightning fast performance for large numbers of enterprise users." TM1 Web provides read, write and what-if capabilities and quickly creates real-time Web-based worksheets or 'Websheets,' which support the functions, formatting and graphic capabilities of Excel on the Web -- an environment widely understood by finance and business professionals alike. The .NET architecture of this new version combined with TM1 Web's ability to publish Excel workbooks via eXtensible Markup Language (XML) will pave the way for TM1 customers to incorporate service-oriented architectures (SOA) and Web services in supply chains and extended customer and partner networks. TM1 Web also incorporates ad hoc capabilities to view all the multidimensional TM1 cubes and work with that data via Web browsers. This means that power users, working locally or remotely, can perform all the activities and operations associated with business performance management and budgeting software. Users are able to revise assumptions in budgets and plans, run what-if scenarios, re-calculate data to reflect new real-time information, and develop charts directly in a Web browser. "We are very excited about this latest release of TM1. By leveraging the power and extensibility of Microsoft's .Net platform in TM1 Web, Applix has taken a significant step in enhancing deployment of real-time analytics to the enterprise," said Steven Garno, co-founder of CarpeDatum Consulting Inc., an Applix solution partner. "The longstanding qualities of TM1 -- high performance and usability in robust read/write models -- are now delivered through TM1 Web to meet the demands of TM1 enterprise clients. This broadens the use of business modeling and analytics to every aspect of the company, for both internal and external customers."
