ANSYS, a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced the availability of a direct connection between its ANSYS Workbench simulation environment and CoCreate's 3-D CAD software. With the new integration, solid models created in CoCreate's Designer Modeling can be transferred directly to ANSYS' simulation environment. The integration also establishes an association with the 3-D CAD model so that changes made within Designer Modeling are updated within ANSYS Workbench. "With a direct integration between design and simulation, CoCreate's and ANSYS' mutual customers will see immediate results toward leaner product development," said William M. The integration between the CoCreate and ANSYS applications highlights the importance of openness within the CAD/CAM/CAE industry, where a company's product lifecycle management (PLM) portfolio often includes applications from multiple vendors. CoCreate's newly available .NET API paved the way for extending the 3-D CAD environment of Designer Modeling to the ANSYS Workbench environment. Digital simulation software is growing on the desktop as more engineers analyze products for real-world conditions while they design. This trend toward "everyday analysis" -- where digital simulation occurs as part of the daily design process -- benefits companies by providing better product quality, reduced prototyping costs and faster realization of optimal designs. As a result, the ANSYS Workbench provides a powerful means with which to leverage the 3-D product development process.
