AssetMetrix introduces industry's most advanced License Management Service

AssetMetrix, the leading provider of on-demand Business Intelligence for IT management, today announced the License Management Module, a new addition to its service that gives IT and procurement managers the ability to import records of software license purchases and compare them to software applications that have been discovered and categorized by the AssetMetrix service. The License Management Module provides a ledger of software purchases that can be reconciled to software that is actually deployed. This function is being launched as companies struggle to maintain software compliance under strict new rules of corporate governance. According to Gartner's Jane Disbrow, Research Director, "Through 2008, 40 percent of midsize and large enterprises can expect an external software licensing audit." Non-compliance can result in heavy fines, and even harsher legal penalties. AssetMetrix's License Management Module functionality allows IT managers to proactively determine their compliance and if they are paying enough or too much for software licenses. "Our customers and business partners have told us that they are thrilled with the way their AssetMetrix service can discover and provide analysis of their software and hardware environments," said Jeff Campbell, CEO of AssetMetrix. "We are now able to provide a method of integrating purchase history information available through software resellers and from Independent Software Vendors to deliver a license ledger dashboard, thereby streamlining the compliance measurement process for our clients." AssetMetrix services arm customers with the intelligence needed to make more informed decisions on the management and deployment of licenses to ensure compliance, monitor corporate installation and usage procedures, and negotiate license purchases.
