Andrew Kusiak Received a Research Contract from Deere & Company

Andrew Kusiak, professor of mechanical and industrial engineering in the University of Iowa College of Engineering, has received a $100,174 research contract from Deere & Company to develop a data mining tool for managing product configurations. Data mining involves the use of computational mathematics to devise new tools for discovering properties of data and for processing large volumes of data. One of the goals of data mining is to extract meaningful knowledge in selected fields. Kusiak, who came to the University of Iowa in 1988 and holds a joint appointment in the UI College of Nursing, has research interests that include data mining and knowledge discovery, computational intelligence, and medical informatics and technology.
