POWAY, Calif. – Promicro, a leading provider of high performance computing solutions, announced that the ProServer 2264 is now available with new server technology from Intel Corporation. Based on the Intel Server Platform SR870BH2 and new Intel Itanium 2 processors announced earlier today, the ProServer 2264 is a high performance, high-density server solution for business and scientific applications. The ProServer 2264 offers enterprise-level reliability and flexibility, and reduces operating costs by consolidating data resources into a more manageable IT environment. “Promicro’s new ProServer based on the Intel Server Platform SR870BH2 and new Itanium 2 processor offer leading performance and prices for a broad range of enterprise applications,” said Phil Brace, director of marketing, Intel Enterprise Platforms and Services Division. “The ProServer 2264 is a great addition to the wide range of powerful hardware solutions based on Intel server products.” The ProServer 2264 is based on the Intel Itanium 2 processor, making it significantly more cost-effective than proprietary RISC offerings. The processor’s Explicitly Parallel Instruction Computing (EPIC) architecture and 6MB of level 3 cache also contribute to leading enterprise performance. The ProServer 2264 offers support for IA-32 applications and is ideal for high availability server deployments. “Promicro’s history of expertise with Intel processor and platforms-based servers, combined with our thorough customization of solutions for each customer’s unique requirements, have resulted in contracts with leading businesses, government and academic institutions,” said Jeff Haynes, president, Promicro Systems. “The ProServer 2264 is a highly competitive offering that is optimized for the most demanding applications.”
