Oracle Introduces Project Management and Collaboration Capabilities
LONDON, ORACLE APPSWORLD -- Oracle Corp., the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced the immediate availability of three new products to the Oracle Projects family of applications: Oracle Project Management, Oracle Project Collaboration and Oracle Project Intelligence, which extend Oracle's strength in project accounting and resource management. Oracle now offers a global enterprise project management solution designed to help customers control costs, manage risk and drive efficiencies throughout the entire project life cycle. Oracle Projects is a component of the Oracle E-Business Suite, a complete set of business applications that enable companies to improve business processes, make more informed decisions and lower the total cost of ownership. Oracle Project Management provides project managers with the visibility and controls they require to successfully deliver their projects. Project schedules, progress reports, staffing plans, documents, issues and changes-critical information for proactively managing project work-are integrated and easily accessible through a Web interface. Additionally, project managers now have increased control over the financial status of their projects with access to actual cost, revenue and invoice information in Oracle Project Costing and Project Billing. Project managers can view, in real time, key project performance metrics, including progress to plan, total cost to budget, forecast to completion, cash flow, and profitability. CDM is a global, full-service consulting, engineering, construction, and operations firm helping public and private clients improve the environment and infrastructure. CDM must optimize budget forecasting and oversight, while managing and communicating project performance amongst geographically dispersed project teams. "The success of a construction project depends in part on our ability to manage the budget and to control project changes. We are implementing Oracle Project Management so that our project managers can have greater insight into the financial health of their projects, and more control over the approval of change orders and their impact on the project budget," said Frank Malangone, vice president of Information Services for CDM. Global Project Collaboration Oracle Project Collaboration helps project team members -- internal and external to the enterprise -- to collaborate and communicate more easily in their efforts to review and complete project work. Team members have visibility into project information entered by their project managers through Oracle Project Management, including work plans, change orders, and status reports, and are empowered to raise and resolve issues, communicate progress and share project documents. All project data is stored in a single repository, secured by role, ensuring that all stakeholders are working from a single source of truth. International technology group Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) expects visibility into project performance can streamline collaborative execution and improve customer satisfaction through more rapid delivery of superior results. "G&D has selected Oracle Project Collaboration to help ensure that all members of our project teams, located in offices around the world, have high degree of awareness of the work schedule, and the ability to resolve issues quickly, share documents securely and communicate progress accurately and easily. This will make the job of delivering high quality and secure products and solutions to our customers more streamlined," said Francesco Scognamiglio, manager of E-Business and Web Services at Giesecke & Devrient. Comprehensive Project Intelligence Oracle Project Intelligence enables top-down enterprise metrics and analytics for the entire project-based organization and provides cross-project visibility into the lifecycle of a project-from opportunity bookings, to resource utilization, to profitability and activity analysis. Utilizing secure, role-based portals, Oracle Project Intelligence provides an executive daily summary of key metrics including revenue, cost, margin, bookings, backlog, and utilization, which allows a project executive to stay informed at all times, develop insight to business operations, and drill down to actionable details. Expanding the Project Management Solution "To date, project management has been comprised of disparate systems for planning, document management, staffing, accounting, reporting and communication, making it extremely difficult for managers to successfully deliver projects to clients and stakeholders on time and on budget," said Jeanne Lowell, vice president of applications development at Oracle Corp. "The addition of Oracle Project Management, Oracle Project Collaboration and Oracle Project Intelligence expand Oracle Projects beyond financial control and resource management to a broader solution that will enable companies to streamline the full project lifecycle -- from selling through delivery -- and integrate it with enterprise operations."
