Compaq Announces 2001 Q4 Preliminary Results Exceed Expectations

HOUSTON, TX -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ), a leading global provider of enterprise technology and solutions, today announced that its fourth quarter 2001 results would exceed previous guidance and current analyst expectations. The company's revenue for the fourth quarter will exceed $8 billion, yielding a profitable quarter. Previous guidance and consensus estimates for the fourth quarter were revenues of $7.6 to $7.8 billion and a loss of $0.03 per share. "These results represent strong execution and Compaq's solid momentum in the marketplace," said Michael D. Capellas, Compaq chairman and chief executive officer.
