Dataram’s Innovative Upgrade Doubles Memory Capacity of Sun Fire V240

Princeton, NJ —Dataram Corporation, today announced the immediate availability of the industry’s first 4 gigabyte (GB) memory upgrade for the Sun FireTM V240, powering the system to a full 16GB of memory capacity. This innovative 4GB upgrade is not yet available from Sun Microsystems and is Dataram’s “third” first-to-market memory upgrade for Sun in seven weeks. Also released today were 1GB and 2GB memory upgrades for Sun’s entry-level Sun Fire V210 and V240 servers. Each DRS240 memory upgrade consists of two ECC DDR DIMMs and were fully qualified for use in the Sun Fire V210 and V240 servers. The DRS240 is available in three capacities – 1GB (2 x 512MB), 2GB (2 x 1GB) and the industry’s first 4GB (2 x 2GB) option. By providing 16GB system capability, Sun users can choose the V240 over other more expensive servers. Both servers feature a single or dual 1GHz UltraSPARC®IIIi Cu processor in a 1U (V210) or 2U (V240) form-factor running on the Solaris Operating System. Each has eight DIMM slots (four for each processor) and memory must be installed in pairs. The Sun Fire V210 and Sun Fire V240 servers are ideally suited for front-end, enterprise and technical computing applications. Dataram’s 36-years experience and focus on memory provide its customers with substantial savings of up to 50% or more when compared to the original system vendors’ memory. All Dataram memory products for Sun systems are guaranteed to be 100% compatible with Sun’s hardware and software and are backed by a lifetime warranty and free technical support.
