DataDirect Networks Certifies Max-T's InfinARRAY Clustered File System

LOS ANGELES, CA -- DataDirect Networks, the leading provider of the world's highest performance storage networking appliances, and Maximum Throughput Inc. (www.max-t.com), a developer and provider of high performance enterprise-class networked storage solutions, have announced that the Max-T's InfinARRAY, a massively scalable clustered file system and Sledgehammer, a high performance NAS system, have been certified for use with DataDirect's S2A 6000 Silicon Storage Appliances. The qualification of InfinARRAY and Sledgehammer with Silicon Storage Appliances allows supercomputing users in visualization, simulation and research an easy way to create scalable, mission-critical and extremely high performance converged SAN/NAS storage networks. The certification brings together two of the world's fastest storage networking solutions. Max-T's InfinARRAY features massively scalable storage bandwidth and storage capacity; Sledgehammer provides unparalleled throughput and performance for enterprise-class applications, delivering data substantially faster than other NAS solutions. DataDirect's S2A 6000 Silicon Storage Appliance brings a highly scalable, simple to deploy and easy-to-manage appliance-enabled SAN that supplies an aggregate bandwidth of 800 megabytes per second, supports up to 512 servers and 180 terabytes of storage bringing performance and scalability benefits to scientific and commercial supercomputing centers. "In recent performance testing during certification using 12 compute nodes and six storage processors, over a GigE network, the DataDirect/Max-T solution was able to hit the wire speed on each GigE link until the network saturated at 550MB per second," Gautham Sastri, founder and chief technology officer, Maximum Throughput, said. "Certifying our products on DataDirect's Silicon Storage Appliance SAN is part of our continuing commitment to delivering the fastest and most scalable solutions to the IT community." "Silicon Storage Appliances have always made it easy for IT professionals to deploy and scale open system, high performance storage area network infrastructures in a cost-effective, modular approach, and with our certification of Max-T's Sledgehammer and InfinARRAY we now can bring these same benefits to converged SAN/NAS environments," Brad Winett, vice president, business development, DataDirect Networks, said. "In the race to achieve faster results with increased productivity and lower total cost of ownership, supercomputing professionals have a new alternative that can deliver compelling, competitive and cost-effective benefits to the scientific community."
