DataDirect Networks to Showcase Cloud-Based Content Storage Technology at NAB Conference

Scalable WOS content storage appliances enable global, policy-based content distribution for rich media and web content operators

DataDirect Networks (DDN) today announced that it will showcase its groundbreaking cloud storage platform, DDN's Web Object Scaler (WOS), at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention April 12 through 15 in Las Vegas. The demonstration will incorporate technology from Intel Corporation - a DDN technology collaborator in cloud and content storage technology.

DDN's Web Object Scaler appliances, powered by Intel- Xeon- processor technology, have been designed from the ground up to revolutionize the speed and simplicity of content storage and delivery at Internet scale. With WOS appliances, organizations worldwide can now build their own storage clouds and content storage systems and scale easily to store billions of files and read and write at millions of files per second. Unlike slower cloud services or content addressable storage platforms, WOS is designed for high-performance, low-latency file storage for customers wrangling with 100s to 1000s of terabytes of online data.

"We are pleased to collaborate with Intel to showcase this unique cloud storage technology," said Paul Bloch, DDN President. "As applications and content are re-located and centralized into the cloud, storage scalability is being redefined on a capacity as well as on a performance basis. Traditional storage and file systems were not designed with large scale, global content distribution in mind. The WOS platform, powered by Intel technology, is meeting the need for cloud storage in a way that is extremely scalable, cost-efficient and easy to manage."

"The NAB conference is all about content," said David Tuhy, general manager, Intel Data Center Group, Storage "Cloud storage is a forward-thinking and fast-growing approach to content storage and data management. Intel Xeon processors are tuned to serve the needs of the data center, including the world's most demanding and data-intensive storage environments."

NAB attendees can see DDN's cloud storage platform in both the DataDirect Networks exhibit (located at Booth #SL4508) and Intel's exhibit, #N1323.
