Atempo, Inc., a global provider of high-performance data protection software, today announced that its Time Navigator(tm) backup and recovery software is now certified to work with SGI(r) InfiniteStorage Data Migration Facility (DMF). Atempo's product offers an integrated data protection and data retention solution for large, data intensive environments. SGI customers use DMF to implement and automate Data Lifecycle Management in policy environments which scale to hundreds of terabytes. Now customers can rely on Atempo's Time Navigator as a high-performance solution to protect data in their SGI environments. DMF, SGI's premier solution for Data Lifecycle Management, automatically migrates data among different storage media (for example: faster, more expensive fibrechannel RAID and less expensive alternatives like serial ATA and tape), leaving it live and completely available to users, applications and administrators while providing significant TCO benefits. Time Navigator is DMF-aware and allows the user to define the right backup, restore and archival policies for both migrated and non-migrated data. Time Navigator has been integrated with DMF and offers a simple and intuitive way to define back-up policies. Time Navigator is the only data protection software that gives end users an image-based method for browsing, selecting and restoring, resulting in a much faster less complex backup and restore process.
