CESGA's 'Rural Schools and Cloud Computing' participates in VI International EducaRed

The "Rural Schools & Cloud Computing" research at the Supercomputing Center of Galicia (CESGA) developed in collaboration with Grouped Boqueixón Rural College-Vedra, has been selected to participate in the activities face of the VI International EducaRed, which will be held on 20, 21 and 22 October in Madrid IFEMA. On Thursday 20 at 19.00 in Hall 6 of IFEMA, Maria Jose Malmierca Rodriguez, Department of e-Learning CESGA and project coordinator, present this educational experience in the cloud that has already drawn attention in several Europeans countries.

"Rural Schools & Cloud Computing" proved to be one of the projects awarded in the Educared prestigious International Awards 2011, funded by Fundación Telefónica, which reward the most outstanding experience in educational innovation Technologies Information and Communication. Selected as a semifinalist in two categories, the CESGA project received the accolade of "Finalist" in the Type A II (virtual desktop childhood education students).

INTERNATIONAL VI EDUCARED
Under the slogan "Attitude 2.0 Learning is sharing," the program of the VI International EducaRed 2011, will give voice to all external and internal sensitized improving education and involved in the process of change we are living: teacher leaders, networks, educational organizations and administrations. EDUCATION IN THE CLOUD
"Rural Schools & Cloud Computing" is a research project funded by the CESGA and HP Labs, the research lab of Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto, USA. It also has the support of the Ministry of Education of the Xunta de Galicia and the municipalities of Boqueixón and Vedra. Designed by e-Learning departments and systems CESGA, it aims develop and evaluate a solution based on cloud computing to provide a platform intuitive and easy to support learning and remote collaboration educational community rural schools. The pilot has been implemented during the final year at Rural College Grouped Boqueixón-Vedra, in collaboration with the educational community itself.

"Rural Schools & Cloud Computing" continues with the interest of CESGA to improve access to best solutions to promote training and collaborative work in communities Galician rural educational, characterized by sparse population and limited access to technological resources.
