Alabama Supercomputer Authority Chooses Verso Solution for K-12 Schools

ATLANTA, GA -- Telemate.Net Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRSO), a provider of enterprise resource management solutions and a Verso Technologies, Inc. company (NASDAQ: VRSO), today announced that its NetSpective WebFilter(TM) appliance has been chosen to become the Internet access management solution for Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA). The Alabama Supercomputer Authority is an Alabama public corporation with a 16-member Board of Directors that is appointed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and the Speaker of the House. The Authority's mission is to develop and operate the statewide Alabama Research and Education Network and the Alabama Supercomputer Center. The Authority's network, Alabama Research and Education Network (AREN), provides Internet connectivity to higher education, post secondary, K-12 systems, and public libraries within Alabama. Under the terms of the contract, Telemate.Net will provide all hardware, software, and installation and automated online services for several NetSpective WebFilter appliances at the Authority's operation center located in Huntsville, Alabama. "The NetSpective WebFilter product was the clear choice to address the unique needs of Alabama's statewide school system," said Wayne Whitmore, Chief Operating Officer of Alabama Supercomputer Authority. "Not only is NetSpective a scalable, high performance filtering solution that is passive to the network and therefore won't impact our network performance, but Telemate.Net was able to deliver flexible billing options based on bandwidth usage. Other solutions offered pricing based on number of users and in our bandwidth-based environment determining number of users was nearly impossible." "Our ability to deliver one of the most feature rich, high performance, turn-key solutions that meet the needs of a variety of customers, from school systems to Internet service providers continues to be a key differentiator to our target buyers," said Steve Odom, Chairman and CEO of Verso Technologies, Telemate.Net's parent company. "We're excited to have the opportunity to partner with a high-profile customer like ASA and feel that this is clear validation of our solution and the demanding needs of our customers." NetSpective WebFilter is a high-performance, firewall-independent network appliance that utilizes Telemate.Net's proprietary SideScan(TM) filtering technology to block undesirable network traffic without impacting performance or reliability of other network components. NetSpective's patent-pending Adaptive Filtering(TM), a process for analyzing all surfed Web sites, ensures that all URLs receive advanced content analysis while new sites are added to the embedded library of previously categorized sites. Users of this embedded library benefit from collaborative learning from other NetSpective WebFilter customer locations around the world. Additionally, Telemate's URL filtering appliance is the industry's most scalable and flexible, with innovative features that enable customers to pay as they grow, to pay-per-user or to select pricing according to bandwidth - features which make the solution appealing to a variety of customers, from K-12 schools to high traffic Internet Service Providers. NetSpective WebFilter is fully compliant with Federal Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requirements. Data Processing Sciences Corporation (DPS), a Telemate.Net reseller, engineered the partnership between the Authority and Telemate.Net Software.
