Schlumberger Oil & Gas Information Solutions Releases MathCube

HOUSTON, TX -- Schlumberger Oil & Gas Information Solutions (SIS) through its software division, GeoQuest, today announced the release of MathCube/a seismic volume calculation software, utilizing OpenSpirit/b for data access. MathCube addresses the overwhelming amount of multiattribute 4D and 4C seismic data seen in today's workflow. It gives the user in-house tools to quickly calculate and visualize the differences between AVO and 4D/4C seismic data volumes. Large volumes can quickly be analyzed utilizing a comprehensive suite of mathematical and logical operators performing calculations on seismic data. In addition, by using the OpenSpirit/b vendor-neutral, platform-independent data access interface, MathCube can access and process 3D seismic data from multiple sources, including GeoQuest GeoFrame(R) and Landmark OpenWorks(TM) project databases. "MathCube is our second stand alone application based on data access through the OpenSpirit platform-independent application framework. Through our strong commitment to OpenSpirit, we are bringing productivity-enhancing applications, such as MathCube, to the market faster," said Colin Hulme, vice president and general manager of Reservoir Software for GeoQuest. "E&P companies now have best-in-process software combined with database independence that fit seamlessly into their workflows." With MathCube on the desktop, AVO and 4D/4C interpretation costs decrease as a result of cycle time reduction from days to hours and the ability to perform this processing in-house allowing interpreters to perform unlimited "what-if" scenarios quickly.
