IBM introduces new security network intrusion prevention system

IBM has introduced a new security appliance which the company says enables clients to easily adopt an IT infrastructure that is secure by design and enable them to stay ahead of looming network security risks.

According to IBM, the new security network intrusion prevention system (IPS), consolidates intrusion prevention with data and web application security into a single, optimized appliance for faster, accurate security protection.

IBM said that the hardware appliance comes preloaded and pre-configured with its security software and extends the capabilities of the X-Force research team to deliver high-performance network security at lower costs.

In addition, the new security network intrusion prevention system is built upon Virtual Patch technology and powered by X-Force research, giving customers direct access to the latest security updates that they need to block threats even before the vendor-supplied patches are applied.

Steve Robinson, general manager for Security Solutions at IBM, said: "Effective threat and vulnerability management needs to focus on preventing problems, not responding to them.

"Through our new intrusion prevention system, IBM is helping organizations save valuable time and money by giving them a single view of security to better thwart potential threats before their networks can be compromised."
