City of Fairfield, CA Chooses RADWIN for its Public Safety Video Surveillance Wireless Network
RADWIN announced that the City of Fairfield in California, US has deployed a RADWIN high-capacity wireless network to enhance public safety. The network is comprised of point-to-multipoint and point-to-point equipment connecting Sony PTZ video cameras installed in public locations city-wide with the central command center. Live video feeds facilitate 24x7 monitoring and enable immediate response to criminal or other urgent activity.
The City of Fairfield's I.T. department led the build-out of the public safety video transmission network. Streakwave Wireless, a global distributor of wireless solutions, helped the City to identify the equipment required to create a secure and high-performance surveillance network based on RADWIN's radios. Fiber was not available in the area and would have been too costly. After a careful evaluation process the City of Fairfield chose RADWIN broadband radios to replace current wireless systems that were unable to provide stable bandwidth required for wireless IP CCTV camera video streams.
Sean P. Quinn, City Manager, said: "The City of Fairfield holds our ability to ensure public safety as a top priority. By utilizing the RADWIN wireless products we are able to easily deploy cameras in virtually any location within our city limits, including streets, traffic intersections and public parks. The ability to deter, prevent and capture activity using the information collected by the system is another invaluable tool for public safety to our community and our citizens."
Joshua Farlow, Executive VP Worldwide Sales from Streakwave Wireless, stated: "RADWIN was the appropriate choice for the City of Fairfield, CA. The City required a reliable, solid and affordable backhaul and wireless delivery solution which could consistently support their CCTV equipment. Streakwave works with its clients to determine the correct solutions to meet their needs. In this case, having a wireless solution for their public safety system is best met with a blend of RADWIN's point-to-multipoint and point-to-point products."
