The Election Commission (EC) conducted an indelible ink simulation during polls for leaders of political parties from Selangor.

Selangor EC director Dzulkifli Ab. Rahman said the exercise was aimed at simulating the actual situation on the use of the ink on voters in the next general election.

"The exercise enabled leaders of political parties to experience the possibilities that could occur while using the ink during the voting process," he told reporters during a simulation briefing by EC deputy secretary Datuk Noordin Che Ngah here.

The use of indelible ink in the next general election was gazetted on Feb 13. Voters would have their left forefinger inked at voting centres.

MIC Kapar division chief T. Ganesan said the simulation was timely for it would avoid misunderstanding on the use of the ink, and showed the EC's commitment in conducting a clean and transparent election.
