Galician company applies supercomputing skills to their daily tasks

  • Coruñesa company Texas Controls is one of ten that will prove CloudPYME platform will allow them to be more competitive
  • Using this new software tool will help them to understand and to justify the complex decisions they make in their engineering work
  • On Thursday, December 13th in Porriño, a celebration day will be held with a new project presentation open to SMEs that want to participate
The Galician company Texas Controls, based in Coruña since 1995, is one that thoroughly tested the CloudPYME platform to learn how to apply supercomputing capabilities in their daily tasks. The director of operations in Texas Controls in Coruña, Germán Rodríguez, explained that, "We will take this opportunity to deepen our understanding of everyday problems that occur with certain materials and critical applications, which we could not do without the calculations and simulations we did."

As a concrete example, Rodriguez cites a study of the difficulties associated with using a particular type of flanged joints in some industrial hydrocracker reviews at many refineries, "And do not follow predefined conditions or previous charges on materials, as building code does not include all the possibilities that can arise in cases like this, as this simplifies the behavior of materials, and does not, when materials are taken to its limit, predicting errors under conditions not provided for in these."

The company will promote the training of personnel in the use of these tools, "To justify the decisions we make when developing our engineering work, the why you gave the calculations, and predict what might happen from past experiences, which is very important for us."

Ultimately, Germán Rodríguez explains, is "To understand the background of the problem and raise the scientific level, to the next level, then offering these calculations to the companies with which we work, primarily in the energy and petrochemical industry."

The CloudPYME project was developed at CESGA, AIMEN in Galicia and AIMMAP and CATIM technology centers in Northern Portugal. With this project, the Galician SMEs and Northern Portuguese metalworking and metal sectors will benefit from a unique initiative that will improve their international competitiveness by including their software processes free with CAD, CAE and simulation technologies that companies increasingly employ to increase their competitive advantage.

For more information on the project, you can visit the website http://www.cloudpyme.eu. They can also use CloudPYME services offered free of charge and without obligation, applying through the same website.

The next presentation of the project to interested companies will be on Thursday, December 13 at 4pm in the AIMEN technology center (Relva 27 The Street, Torneiros, 36410, O Porrino, Pontevedra).
