Solarflare Communications Appoints Danny Shamlou as Senior Vice President of Engineering
Seasoned industry executive brings over 15 years of semiconductor experience to leading 10 Gigabit Ethernet company: Solarflare Communications has appointed Danny Shamlou as senior vice president of engineering. A key addition to the company’s executive team, Shamlou will be responsible for all engineering functions.
“I’m looking forward to this exciting new challenge at Solarflare,” remarked Shamlou. “Solarflare has an outstanding development team, a unique product portfolio and solid financial investors. Supported by the $32 million raised in December, we’re about to ship our next-generation 10GbE vNIC controller and 10GBASE-T transceiver products to Tier 1 customers.”
With Shamlou’s appointment, Solarflare strengthens its position as the leading provider of high-performance, low-power 10GbE silicon for switch and server solutions for next-generation networks. He has over 15 years of executive-level engineering management experience.
“I am pleased to announce Danny’s appointment as senior vice president of engineering,” said Russell Stern, CEO of Solarflare. “His leadership skills, technical expertise and domain knowledge in our customer space are invaluable. Danny’s customer-focused, collaborative and data-driven approach is a perfect match for the Solarflare team.”
Prior to Solarflare, Shamlou held several high-level management positions, including general manager and engineering vice president at Mindspeed and Conexant. His responsibilities included timely execution and production release of several mixed signal systems-on-chip (SoC) products. Recently, Shamlou worked for Starport Systems as vice president of engineering, where he led the development of ultra high-frequency radio frequency identification SoC devices and a 65 nanometer XFI SERDES IP core. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.
