French National Supercomputing Center IDRIS puts online a 1024 CPUs IBM system

IDRIS, French National Research biggest Supercomputing center for academia, has recently made available to the French research community a massive 1024 CPUs IBM supercomputer. Capable of achieving almost 7 Teraflops peak performance it allows 100s of researchers to leverage their problem solving in various scientific disciplines to new heights.
This versatile supercomputer is made out of 119 nodes, interconnected via IBM new High Performance Switch : 8 p690 32 CPUs POWER4 @ 1,3 Ghz, 12 p690+ 32 CPUs POWER4+ @ 1,7 Ghz, dedicated to SMP jobs, 96 p655+ 4 CPUs POWER4+ @ 1,7 Ghz, preferred for MPI jobs, plus 3 p655+ 8 CPUs POWER4+ @ 1,5 Ghz and 4 FAStT900 IBM disks bay 10 Terabytes capacity for IO. www.idris.fr
