U.S. Department of Defense Certifies Xirrus for Mission Critical Wireless Installments

Xirrus announced that its XN8 Wi-Fi Array has been granted certification by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) for interoperability with Defense Department networks and has been validated within the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 for cryptographic modules. The Xirrus XN8 Wi-Fi Array has been added to the Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (UC APL) and is being deployed to support mission critical applications across Federal agencies.

"Xirrus is committed to meeting the unique wireless security requirements of Federal customers with its secure, high-performance wireless technology," said Mike Miller, vice president of Xirrus Federal. "We are the only company that doesn't force its Federal customers to choose between security and performance for their Wi-Fi network because we excel in both areas. Any Federal agencies or Systems Integrators that service the Federal market that are interested in adopting a secure wireless network, will now be able to do so at speeds much greater than ever before."

In addition to these certifications, Xirrus wireless products integrate with ForeScout CounterACT, an automated security control platform for Network Access Control (NAC), mobile security and endpoint compliance. CounterACT, which has been successfully deployed in numerous federal and military sites to meet Comply-to-Connect requirements, enables IT organizations to achieve continuous real-time visibility and policy enforcement. Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays, when teamed with CounterACT, helps IT further manage mobile security threats by applying granular policies for users and mobile devices, such as notebooks, smartphones and tablets to determine access to network resources - regardless of applied credentials and without requiring agents.

“The ability to apply a uniform access, guest network, and endpoint security policies within complex and dynamic environments is essential in order to defend mission critical resources and sensitive data,” said Sam Davis, vice president of business development at ForeScout Technologies. “Supporting leading-edge wireless infrastructure providers, such as Xirrus, ensures the interoperability, availability and protection that our mutual customers depend on.”

Xirrus provides the world’s most powerful, scalable, and trusted solutions. Through product invention and system design, commitment to customer success, and the industry’s best price performance, Xirrus gives you confidence that your wireless network performs under even the most demanding circumstances. The company's solution offers up to 8X the bandwidth, 14X the throughput of traditional access points, 4X the coverage, and 75 percent fewer devices, cable pulls, and switch ports – delivering the industry’s best price performance.

"Now that the Xirrus Wi-Fi Array has the security credentials to operate within Federal networks, the company is in a very strong position to grab a share of an important new market," said Dave Poirier, President of SAVA Workforce Solutions. "The DoD is moving toward wireless networks, and with its enterprise-level performance and capacity, the Xirrus Array will prove to be a very attractive solution."
