Biomax Informatics AG Releases New BioRS Version 5.4

Biomax Informatics AG releases version 5.4 of the BioRS Integration and Retrieval System, which provides powerful tools for accessing both public and proprietary data in a secure and distributed environment. To facilitate data sharing between members of a large working group, databanks integrated at any location can be accessed by users at other locations. Once a databank and corresponding indices have been integrated from a remote BioRS instance, cross-references can be created locally for quick access to information in other integrated databanks. The roll-out installation of the new version at the National Genome Research Network (NGFN2) of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium fur Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) will allow public data to be shared across different locations in the network, while maintaining both security of local clinical data and user-specific preferences. Background: The BioRS Integration and Retrieval System provides the most sophisticated and easy-to-use system to search and integrate heterogeneous public and proprietary databases including both flat-file and relational. The BioRS system is a fast and flexible way to simultaneously search multiple databases using convenient Web interfaces. Researchers can quickly search biological databases while system administrators can easily integrate flat-file and relational databases for multiple users. Using a client-server architecture, the BioRS system provides individual modules for searching, indexing and parsing within a distributed computing environment. Each module can be seamlessly integrated into external applications.
