BestSystems, Inc. to Bundle PGI Compilers and Tools in Japan

BestSystems, Inc. and The Portland Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of STMicroelectronics, today announced an agreement under which BestSystems will bundle PGI Fortran, C, and C++ compilers and development tools and utilities with all of its high-performance workstations. Located in Ibaraki, Japan, BestSystems sells its leading-edge workstations to scientists and engineers running high-performance computing applications for complex modeling and simulations in weather forecasting, geophysical processing, aerodynamic simulation, and related fields. The PGI compilers and tools provide a uniformly-optimized set of industry-tested development tools for the processors powering the fastest-growing science and engineering hardware platforms. BestSystems will bundle, implement, and provide first-level support for PGI compilers and tools including the PGF77(R), PGF90(TM), PGCC(R), and PGC++(TM) compilers, the PGDBG(R) graphical parallel debugger, and the PGPROF(R) graphical parallel-performance profiler. The PGI compilers and tools are fully parallel-enabled, with support for native compilation, profiling, and debugging of OpenMP parallel, thread-parallel, or MPI-parallel distributed applications engineered for today's multi-processor workstations, servers, and clusters. The currently shipping release 5.2 versions of the PGI compilers and tools support both 32-bit and 64-bit x86 and 64-bit AMD64 Opteron(TM) processor-based systems. Most PGI products are available for both Linux and Microsoft(R) Windows(R) operating systems.
