NCSA, SDSC collaborate on benchmarking project

Staffers at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) and the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) have collaborated through the Cyberinfrastructure Partnership to test applications and kernels on the production compute systems at the two centers. This extensive benchmarking project was intended to serve as a reference for users when assessing the relative performance of new systems or deciding where to run a particular application in order to get optimal performance. The extensive benchmarking information is available online at its Web site. There are plans to continue to add benchmarking data to the archive, including information on applications and kernels that are typical of the applications that consume large amounts of time on the compute resources at NCSA and SDSC. For more information about the project, contact Nahil Sobh at NCSA sobh@ncsa.uiuc.edu/ or Amitava Majumdar at SDSC majumdar@sdsc.edu.
