Cray to Offer QLogic PathScale Compiler Suite

Global supercomputer leader Cray today announced that it will offer the QLogic PathScale Compiler Suite on its Cray XT3 supercomputer. Users who need the features and performance of the PathScale Compiler Suite, including organizations that are already running the compiler suite on other platforms, will be able to obtain the software directly from Cray for their AMD Opteron-based Cray XT3 systems. "We have seen increasing demand for QLogic PathScale compilers from our growing Cray XT3 user base and are moving to meet that need," said Jan Silverman, senior vice president, corporate strategy and business development for Cray. "Cray supercomputers support performance demanding users running multiple applications. By offering a choice of compilers in our products, we are giving customers powerful tools to help them be more productive and enabling them to fully exploit system performance and portability of applications." "A Cray XT3 supercomputer equipped with dual-core AMD Opteron processors brings tremendous computational power to high-performance computing applications," said Len Rosenthal, vice president of marketing for the QLogic Systems Interconnect Group. "We are excited to be able to further enhance application performance on these systems with our powerful 64-bit PathScale compilers, and to collaborate with Cray on providing scientists and engineers with tools that can efficiently handle their most challenging computational tasks."
