Small Tree Communications, designers and manufacturers of high performance networking products for Apple’s Mac OS X, recently announced that they have received investment funding in the amount of $445,000 from the Chippewa Valley Angel Investing Network, a group of investors who are interested in promoting new companies and businesses in the Chippewa Valley. This investment will be used to help Small Tree Communications continue its growth by providing funds for further product development and brand marketing efforts. The Chippewa Valley Angel Investing Network, established approximately 18 months ago, meet on a regular basis to review different business proposals they receive from companies in the area. After reviewing proposals, the group invites prospective investment recipients to conduct a thorough presentation on their company. While the group has received a substantial amount of proposals and met with numerous candidates, only three have received investment funding, including Small Tree Communications. “We reviewed Small Tree’s business plan, investigated the company and met with several of its key officials over the past nine months,” stated Claire Johnson, president of the CV Angel Investing Network. “Ultimately, we agreed to invest in this company because we are confident that it will have a successful impact on our region and be beneficial to our investors.” A Board of Directors will be formed and regular meetings will be held to discuss present progress and future plans of action. The Board will consist of two members from the CV Angel Investing Network and Small Tree Communications, as well as Jeff West, president of Silicon Logic Engineering.
