Wirenix Uses Performance Technologies' Advanced Managed Platform Products

Performance Technologies, a leading developer of integrated platforms, components and software solutions for the communications, military and commercial markets, today announced Wirenix is using the company's Advanced Managed Platform products in its Personal Assistance Manager (PAM) unified communication solution. Wirenix is a leading developer of technologies that deliver enhanced speech-recognition services to mobile phone users. The company's PAM product suite offers users an intuitive way to access and retrieve personal databases, location services and Web-based information such as traffic and weather. The "interoperable" solution allows users to interact with any or all of the enhanced services during a single call, without having to disconnect and redial into the network to utilize another service. Wirenix is using Performance Technologies' ZT 5091e Packet-Switched Platform and ZT 5524e Single Board Computer. Both are integral parts of the company's Advanced Managed Platform offering. "Open architecture platforms offer the fastest and most cost-effective path to developing and deploying speech recognition applications for wireless networks," said David Lau, President/CTO of Wirenix. "We chose Performance Technologies because of its industry-leading position as a developer of integrated embedded systems and software. By working with leaders like Performance Technologies, we can ensure our customers receive best-in-class solutions." Performance Technologies' Advanced Managed Platforms offer intelligent and comprehensive shelf management throughout all active components; high availability and fault tolerance; world-class switching; and advanced power and cooling for high performance computing components. The platforms gain strength from being based on the PICMG 2.16 (Packet-Switched Backplane) and 2.9 (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) specifications. "Our Advanced Managed Platform offering provides NEBS platform capability, a comprehensive selection of blade components and Linux-based software solutions for high availability applications such as broadband communications," said Jean Pierre Filion, vice president of worldwide sales for Performance Technologies. "These fast-time-to-market products are ideal for companies like Wirenix that are developing leading-edge communications products. We continue to strive to be the vendor of choice for innovative companies requiring open-standards, best-in-class technology."
