HP Wins U.S. Army Contract Worth up to $500 Million

PALO ALTO, Calif.--HP (NYSE:HPQ) today announced it has been awarded a U.S. Army Information Technology Enterprise Solutions (ITES), Functional Area 1 (FA-1), Enterprise Hardware Solutions (EHS) (ITES-FA1-EHS) procurement contract. The three-year contract, with two 2-year option periods, begins today. The Information Technology E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center (ITEC4) is making the award in conjunction with the Army Small Computer Program (ASCP) under the Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), the Army Chief Information Officer (CIO/G6) and Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM). The ITES-FA1-EHS procurement, which will be managed by the ASCP, is part of a larger Army initiative to consolidate and merge disparate systems under an integrated enterprise architecture. The ITES-FA1-EHS contract will allow organizations across the Army to purchase commercial servers, workstations, desktops, notebooks, storage systems, networking equipment, operating systems and commercial software applications, peripherals, and related IT services. The IT services include installation, equipment maintenance, site survey, system configuration and integration, image loading, data migration, asset tracking, and legacy equipment maintenance. In awarding the ITES-FA1-EHS contract, the Army is addressing many of the same challenges facing commercial enterprises today. Tighter systems integration will allow the Army to become a more agile organization by allowing it to better align its information systems with its mission. "Over 60 years ago, HP was awarded its first contract with the armed forces," said Bruce Klein, vice president, HP Federal. "That long HP tradition of helping federal agencies meet their IT challenges continues today. We look forward to supporting the Army's enterprise solutions requirements and IT services worldwide."
