Quickturn Design Verification System Purchased by Multilink Technology
SAN JOSE, CA -- Quickturn(TM), a company of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NYSE:CDN), today announced that Multilink Technology Corporation (Nasdaq:MLTC) has purchased the newest Quickturn design verification system, Palladium. Multilink chose Palladium because it needed a platform that could accelerate the very large-scale integrated (VLSI) simulation runs needed to validate selected high-end 10 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s networking designs out of its European centers. "Companies designing chips for high-end networking applications face large gate counts, extremely long simulation run times, and complex protocols requiring many verification cycles to validate," said Christopher Tice, Cadence senior vice president and Quickturn general manager. "We are pleased that Multilink chose Quickturn and Palladium to help it address these challenges and accelerate time-to-market for its leading-edge products." In addition to co-simulation and simulation acceleration, Palladium can be used in-circuit to emulate a chip or system in its real environment prior to tape-out. Quickturn has turnkey networking verification environments that can be used to debug designs using stimuli based on real-world data standards. By combining software applications, hardware emulation, and stimulus generated by network testers into one complete environment, networking chips and entire systems can be verified earlier in the development cycle. "By reducing the time for all aspects of the design phase, Multilink is better able to service this rapidly developing market segment," said William Reinisch, executive director of technology at Multilink, a leading provider of advanced semiconductor-based solutions that accelerate the deployment of high-speed optical networks. "We selected the Quickturn Palladium system to help us reduce the time needed for chip verification of VLSI optical networking chips, so that we may continue to deliver leading-edge technology with world-class design cycles." The Quickturn Palladium(TM) design verification system is priced depending on user configuration. Palladium supports the HP-UX, IBM-AIX, and Sun Solaris platforms and is also available through QuickCycles, a turnkey program that provides remote access to Quickturn verification environments on a pay-as-you-go basis.
