Sun Displays Full Range of Grid Computing Solutions at SC2001
DENVER, CO -- Sun Microsystems, Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) is deploying the technology that powers enterprise grids. At the Supercomputing 2001 Conference, Sun showcases its momentum in high-performance computing with expert-led discussions and demonstrations of its cluster, campus and global grids. Located at booth #645, Sun displays the ``Grid Wall,'' with five demonstrations of the company's Grid Computing solutions, including the beta release of Sun's Grid Engine software, Sun(tm) Grid Engine Enterprise Edition. Sun is also hosting a breakfast discussion on Wednesday, November 14 at the Denver Athletic Club, gathering leading grid gurus and researchers from around the world. Sun Powers the Grid Now Grid computing is fundamentally changing the way organizations use their compute and data storage resources. The Sun booth will be a hot-bed of grid activity with demonstrations that illustrate the impact of Sun's technology on technical computing. The booth demonstrations include: -- Cluster grid computing using Java Advanced Imaging Software and Sun Grid Engine to perform complex imaging calculations. -- Campus grid computing using Sun Grid Engine Enterprise Edition to demonstrate resource allocation/policy management between two projects. -- Global grid computing with secure collaboration over the Internet using Sun Grid Engine and Avaki. -- Advanced Interconnect Technology creating virtualized servers within cluster environments for system-to-system performance that matches the typical internal performance of computer systems. More from Sun at Supercomputing 2001 Sun is unveiling its latest technology for the high-performance technical computing market -- the Technical Computing Portal (TCP) solution. Based on a more collaborative and efficient model for supercomputing, Sun's TCP solution provides users a single, Web-based point of delivery to easily access services, content and complex applications through a standard Internet browser and simple point-and-click interfaces. Sun is also demonstrating the new Sun HPC SAN during the conference. Visitors to the Sun booth can witness the first dedicated high-speed storage network built for the HPC and Technical Computing environments. For more information visit www.sun.com
