Platform Computing Names Robert Gordon New CEO

TORONTO, CANADA -- Platform Computing Inc., a leader in distributed computing software, announced the appointment of Robert Gordon as Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, Mr. Gordon will lead Platform's global business strategy to deliver excellence in customer value. For the past year, Gordon has been a venture capitalist in the European technology sector, based in the UK. Previously, he served as Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa for Oracle Corporation. Platform recently reported fiscal year 2001 revenues in excess of US$46 million, an increase of 34 percent over the previous year. The increase in revenues was driven by the increasing global demand for distributed computing, and Platform's industry-leading Distributed Resource Management (DRM) and Grid Computing solutions. "With ten years of experience in distributed computing and more than 1,500 blue-chip customers worldwide, Platform is an established, profitable company with proven technology," said Robert Gordon. Dr. Songnian Zhou, Platform's founder, remains the company's Chairman and assumes the position of Chief Technology Officer. In this role, he will spearhead the company's product strategy and vision. Under his leadership, Platform grew into the global leader in distributed computing with 400 employees in 14 offices worldwide. This is a very positive change for Platform." Gordon brings more than 30 years' experience in the international information technology industry to this position. Gordon spent more than nine years with Oracle Corporation, including five years as Senior Vice President, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He was also President and CEO of Oracle Canada, where he grew revenues by more than 450 per cent. Prior to joining Oracle in 1991, Gordon held senior management positions with Bell Atlantic Enterprises, Nortel and IBM. He has a Bachelor of Engineering Science from Universite Laval and is a past chairman of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC).
