Intelligent Locks Against the Data Deluge
22nd International Conference on Scientific and Statistical Database Management SSDBM in Heidelberg from 30th June to 2nd July 2010 – concepts for structuring and evaluating scientific data – joint event of Heidelberg University and Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS)
The sciences are increasingly confronted with a flood of data that they produce themselves: the amount of data that is produced by scientific experiments and observations grows from year to year. Consequently, the maintenance and structuring of scientific data has to play an ever more important role.
Against this backdrop the International Conference on Scientific and Statistical Database Management (SSDBM) takes place from 30th July to 2nd June 2010. SSDBM is the only international conference which centrally deals with the management and analysis of scientific data. The topics range from data analysis and data mining to pattern detection.
SSDBM has been alternating between locations in the U.S. and Europe for nearly twenty-two years. Thanks to the dedication of the computer scientist Prof. Michael Gertz (Heidelberg University) the conference takes place in Germany for the first time in ten years. The conference is realized jointly by Heidelberg University and the HITS. About eighty scientists from ten countries will participate in the conference.
Michael Gertz is responsible for the program; Prof. Andreas Reuter (HITS, Heidelberg) holds the conference chair. Keynote speakers are Daniel Abadi (Yale University) and Roger Barga (Microsoft Research, Redmond). The conference venue is the Studio Villa Bosch.
