Bell Microproducts Adds Neterion, Strengthens 10 Gigabit Ethernet Offerings
For many companies challenged by the higher levels of information being sent over networked storage and server environments, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) is proving to be the answer. Having identified the importance of this segment within networking as a critical offering for resellers, Bell Microproducts is working to further strengthen its line of 10GbE offerings.
Today, Bell Micro announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Neterion, Inc., the industry leader in 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) adapters for server and storage environments. Under the terms of the agreement, Bell Micro will distribute Neterion's industry-leading X3100 series of 10GbE network adapter cards throughout North America.
"Neterion selected Bell Micro based on its reputation as a premier channel distributor that focuses in on the enterprise market on a worldwide basis," noted John Hagerman, vice president of sales and business development for Neterion. "As the preponderance of Neterion deployments are in enterprise server/NAS appliance and virtual server environments, Bell Micro and its vast network of resellers across the globe are a perfect fit for us."
Ideal for enterprise customers deploying virtual machine environments based on VMWare, Xen and the like, Neterion's industry leading X3100 series 10GbE series is designed to enable I/O intensive applications to run in a virtual machine environment. The X3100 series is the only Single Root I/O Virtualization (SR-IOV) compliant network adapter family on the market. Neterion's network adapter cards are able to deliver hardware-level Service Level Agreements (SLAs) through the field proven IOQoS (I/O Quality of Service) technology. In addition, the Hypervisor Offload (Hy-O) technology allows greater Virtual Machine (VM) density per platform, and Neterion's exclusive Virtual Link Technology (VLT) capability enables presenting a single physical adapter to the system as several fully independent controllers.
"Bell Micro offers one of the industry's most comprehensive line cards for networking technologies, and the addition of Neterion underscores our firm commitment to maintaining this leadership position," said Gary Gammon, senior vice president of enterprise marketing for Bell Micro.
"Neterion is recognized as a leader with products that enable the next wave in virtualization. There is definitely a need to be able to run I/O intensive applications, including databases and mail servers, in a virtual environment."
