Luxtera wins AeA High Tech Award

Recognized as a leader in San Diego’s cutting-edge high technology market: Luxtera Inc., the world leader in CMOS Photonics, today announced it is the High Tech Award winner in the Semiconductors, Industrial & Analytical Instrumentation category of awards presented by AeA’s San Diego Chapter. The award recognizes local technology companies for their achievements in technological innovation, civic contributions and industry accomplishment. Chosen for its breakthrough technology in CMOS photonics, Luxtera is the first company to successfully overcome the complex technical obstacles involved with integrating high-performance optics directly with silicon electronics on a monolithic CMOS chip; the breakthrough resulted in the recently announced world’s first commercial CMOS Photonics product. This award along with recent technological achievements position the company at the forefront of Southern California’s technology industry. To date, enterprise customers had a choice of selecting from high-cost, high-performance optics and low-cost, low-performance copper connections. By bringing optical solutions to a monolithic CMOS chip, Luxtera is changing the market for the first time providing users with a low-cost, high-performance solution. “San Diego is at the forefront of the high technology industry, and Luxtera is leading the pack in terms of innovation,” said Kevin Carroll, executive director of AeA San Diego Council. “We had some tremendous companies apply for this award, but Luxtera really stood out for its disruptive technology. We look forward to seeing this company continue to impact the region and the industry as a whole.” “This has been a banner year for Luxtera. We introduced our first commercial product to the market, and our selection by AeA as the winner amongst many top technology companies in the area further validates our position as a technology leader in Southern California,” said Greg Young, CEO of Luxtera. “We are honored that the AeA recognizes our achievements and contributions to the industry, and as a company, we are well-positioned to continue changing the competitive landscape of the optical industry.”
