Luxtera named as finalist for the San Diego AeA High Tech Awards
Recognized for breakthrough advancements in CMOS Photonics: Luxtera Inc., the world leader in CMOS Photonics, today announced it is a finalist for the 2007 San Diego AeA High Tech Award. Chosen for its breakthrough technology in CMOS photonics, Luxtera is the first company to successfully overcome the complex technical obstacles involved with integrating high-performance optics directly with silicon electronics on a monolithic CMOS chip, which resulted in the world’s first commercial CMOS Photonics product.
Each year, the San Diego chapter of the AeA, the nation’s largest high-tech industry association, recognizes local technology companies for their achievements in technological innovation, civic contributions and industry accomplishment. Marking the 14th anniversary of the awards, this year’s finalists will be judged by a cross-section of local technology leaders. “Luxtera has overcome significant obstacles and demonstrated remarkable leadership in advancing CMOS Photonics industry, and introducing the industry’s first 40G optical active cable,” said Kevin Carroll, AeA executive director. “They are a perfect example of the high caliber technology companies in San Diego that deserve to be recognized for their continuous technological contribution to the community.” “This announcement comes at an exciting time for Luxtera, as our first product comes to market,” said Marek Tlalka, vice president of marketing for Luxtera. “Being named a finalist for this award further validates our technological innovation achievements, and to be mentioned among the top high tech companies in San Diego is an extraordinary honor.” Winners of this year’s awards will be announced on October 19 at the Hilton Torrey Pines in La Jolla, with more then 500 technology executives expected to be in attendance.
