ClearSpeed Technology Appoints COO Stephen McKinnon to Board

McKinnon to lead the build-out of acceleration technology solution offerings: ClearSpeed Technology, the world leader in acceleration technology for high performance computing (HPC), today announced that chief operating officer Stephen McKinnon has been appointed to ClearSpeed’s Board of Directors. As the seventh member of the Board, McKinnon will join ClearSpeed CEO Tom Beese, ClearSpeed CFO Paul Webb, and non-executive directors David Sebire, John Hart, Shanker Trivedi, and Richard Farleigh. A seasoned veteran with over 25 years experience in the semiconductor industry, McKinnon joined ClearSpeed in August of 2006 to lead the global Sales, Applications, Marketing and Support (SAMS) organization which is the customer facing side of ClearSpeed. As head of SAMS, McKinnon leads the initiative to provide mature acceleration technology solutions for ClearSpeed’s target markets. ClearSpeed acceleration is ideal for the most demanding applications for the Financial Services Industry, Government Labs, and University research institutions where the constraints of energy and facilities space are significant barriers to achieving maximum performance. Compatible with industry standard platforms and available in a standard PCI form factor, ClearSpeed’s Advance™ accelerator boards deliver approximately four times the performance per watt of today’s fastest industry standard processors. “ClearSpeed delivers unmatched energy-efficient performance for industry-standard HPC systems,” said Stephen McKinnon, ClearSpeed’s chief operating officer. “With acceleration technology now acknowledged as the next big thing in HPC architectures, it is exciting to be part of such a talented team that is driving ClearSpeed to further extend it’s leadership position in this rapidly growing market.“
